Morita-Mullaney receives a 2024 Purdue Dreamer Award
Trish Morita-Mullaney is one of four 2024 recipients of Purdue University’s Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamer Award.

“The Martin Luther King Dreamer award affirms my commitment to working in curious solidarity with different raciolinguistic communities,” said Morita-Mullaney, associate professor in English Language Learning, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, College of Education.
Morita-Mullaney received the award for her efforts to create an inclusive and supportive campus climate, advancing the scholarship of diversity, and increasing educational opportunities. Raciolinguistics examines how language is used to construct race and how ideas of race influence language and language use.
“Professor Morita-Mullaney is an extraordinarily deserving recipient of this university-wide award for her noteworthy contributions to the College, Purdue, and the state of Indiana,” said Phillip J. VanFossen, interim dean of the College of Education. “In particular, she has worked tirelessly to create an inclusive and supportive environment here on campus, implemented effective teaching and learning strategies that promote a ‘dreamer’ orientation, and advanced the scholarship of diversity.”
The Office of the Vice President for Ethics and Compliance presented the awards to Morita-Mullaney and other recipients at a reception on January 16 in the Purdue Memorial Union’s West Faculty Lounge.
Purdue’s Dreamer Award has been presented annually since 2004 to individuals or organizations within the Purdue community whose contributions embody Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of service to others and further the university’s commitment to diversity.
