Dean Santos to complete term as Dean in June 2018

After nine years as dean of the College of Education, Maryann Santos will complete her term on June 30, 2018. She plans to return to faculty for the 2018-19 academic year.

She shared this with faculty and staff on Tuesday, Sept. 26, “It is truly an honor to serve as dean of Purdue’s College of Education. I am proud of the work you do and the many accomplishments we have enjoyed together. Fortunately, we still have several months to continue to work together. My ‘to-do’ list is long and I look forward to what we can achieve this year.”

In his letter to College of Education faculty and staff, Jay Akridge, Interim Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Diversity, said, “Maryann has helped position Purdue’s College of Education as a national leader in K-12 STEM education and, as the first Latina dean of the college, is a champion for diversity and inclusion. With Maryann’s leadership and with the great work of the faculty and staff, much has been accomplished since she became dean in 2009. Notable achievements include fostering the development of three online master’s degree programs, attaining a 91% growth in graduate enrollment, and facilitating exponential growth in external funding.”

Christine Ladisch, dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences, will serve as chair for the search committee to identify a new dean of the College of Education. Details about the search committee and timeline will be shared at a later date.
