Fence Mural Project

A fence decorated in a colorful zigzag pattern.

Wabash Center and Purdue University are excited to announce the unveiling of a new fence mural, a collaborative art installation created by Purdue students and individuals who attend Wabash Center’s Adult Day Program. This project, funded by a Purdue service learning grant and led by Ph.D. student Sedigheh Fatollahzadeh in collaboration with Dr. Jasmine Begeske, represents a unique blend of creativity and community involvement.

The mural, designed using colorful plastic put-in cups, showcases the artistic talents and collaborative spirit of individuals with developmental disabilities in Tippecanoe County. The design process was a true partnership, with input from both the adults and staff at Wabash Center, ensuring that everyone had a voice in the final artwork.

This project aims to enhance arts learning and foster a process-oriented approach, encouraging participation across varying ability levels. Additionally, it empowers staff at Wabash Center to integrate arts into their curriculum through professional development sessions led by Sedigheh Fathollahzadeh.
