Non-degree Coursework Options
For prospective students interested in taking courses as a non-degree student, there are three recommended options.
Option 1 – Complete Professional Development (non-credit) courses for PGPs
Purdue University Online offers several courses in Education that DO NOT result in college credit, but do provide Professional Growth Plan (PGP) points. The full list of non-degree professional development offerings can be found on Purdue Online’s Professional Development webpage. For more information about these programs, including which programs may qualify for PGPs, please complete the Request Information form on the webpage.
Option 2 – Apply as a non-degree residential student
Some graduate programs may admit students as residential non-degree students. However, not all courses are offered every term (fewer options are available in the summer). The Literacy and Language Education program does sometimes admit non-degree students wishing to take a course, and in particular, the course EDCI 58500 Multicultural Education is offered without pre-requisites and may be an option for some applicants. For more information, please reach out to edgrad@purdue.edu prior to submitting a non-degree application.
Option 3 – Apply to an Online Certificate or License Addition program
Prospective students apply to a graduate Certificate (non-licensure) program or a graduate-level licensure program, and if admitted, graduate-level credits earned through these programs may be able to be used for Indiana educator license renewal. For questions about licensure programs and license renewal, please contact the Office of Teacher Education and Licensure at licensure@purdue.edu. *Some programs may not be available for admission consideration for every term (Fall, Spring, and Summer) depending upon enrollment. Contact edgrad@purdue.edu for more information.
