Literacy Reflections on Black History Elementary Competition

The 2024 Black History Month Theme “African Americans and the Arts” spans the many impacts Black Americans have had on visual arts, music, cultural movements, and more.

The Literacy Reflections on Black History Elementary Competition is an initiative that celebrates K-5 student engagement within Greater Lafayette through literacy and the arts as well as highlighting the impact of African American contributions in celebration of Black History Month. Six awards will be given to two groups of elementary students (Primary, K-2 and Intermediate, 3-5). To produce their art for the Feb. 23 competition, students will follow a guiding prompt reflecting on how African Americans have impacted the arts in the United States.
