Eleven Holmes Scholars named to 2022 cohort

The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) Holmes Program named 11 College of Education PhD and post-doctoral students as 2022 Holmes Scholars.

The program supports students who self-identify as racially and ethnically diverse and are pursuing graduate degrees in education at AACTE member institutions.

“My participation in the Holmes program has allowed me to me to fellowship in a wonderful community of scholars of color who have been a great source of support during my tenure at school,” said Jessica Reneé Bowen, a PhD student in counseling psychology.

“I personally am able to articulate and hone my research and professional skills to address issues of diversity and equity in educational experiences,” said Shivani Ramoutar, PhD student in learning, design and technology. “Mentorship, guidance and community are all hallmarks of the Holmes program.”

“As a graduate student, I believe networking is a tool for successful graduate studies and postgraduate activities,” said Godwin Gyimah, a PhD student in curriculum and instruction. “Being a member of the Holmes Scholars program gives me the opportunity to attend graduate student success workshops and present my research at the Holmes Scholars National Conference.”
