Recruiters want to hire our graduates because they know we train quality teachers. Representatives from more than 50 school corporations across 13 states attended our 2015 job fair.

The Hoosier Hot 50 job list ranks K-12 teachers as the second most in-need job in Indiana.
There is an especially high need for teachers in urban and rural school districts and in high-demand fields such as family and consumer sciences, math, science and special education.
Officials predict a 10 percent increase in available teaching jobs in the next 5 to 7 years.

According to a Purdue survey, 97.8 percent of our graduates were employed within six months after graduation.

Here’s our advice for setting yourself apart from other aspiring teachers:

  • Work hard in your courses and get the best grades possible.
  • Get involved in student organizations and the community.
  • Make a good impression while in the schools for your field experiences.
  • Network every chance you get.
  • Present your Purdue degree proudly to potential employers.
  • Use all the resources available to you at Purdue (i.e. Center for Career Opportunities).
  • Be persistent.
