My primary research focus at this time centers on the needs of small and rural school districts in both Indiana and across the country. Along with other members of the Purdue’s Educational Leadership Initiative for Small and Rural Schools (PELISARS) team, I have engaged in several studies of small and rural school districts in Indiana counties. We are especially interested if either consolidation or collaboration activities have been undertaken by any of the school districts. Where there has been activity, what factors have contributed to such, and are there opportunities to save money and improve student learning are questions to be analyzed.
