Dr. Brown recently moved from Florida to Indiana to begin her academic career at Purdue University. She has a passion for improving mathematics education and mathematics teacher education at elementary and early childhood levels. She is interested in building teacher candidates’ and in–service teachers’ capacity to transfer their passion and knowledge to students in meaningful ways.

Dr. Brown’s research interests lie at the intersection of mathematics education, elementary education, and teacher education, especially in humanizing and professionalizing the voices of novice teachers as they transition from preparation into practice in their own classrooms. She has experience teaching and coaching in grades PK–8 as well as supervising elementary teacher candidates and teaching undergraduate elementary and early childhood mathematics methods courses. Dr. Brown is passionate about serving teacher candidates, in-service teachers, and students to ensure all learners have equitable access to high-quality mathematics instruction and learning.
