Dr. Christy Wessel Powell, Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction is one of seven Purdue instructors selected by Purdue’s Office of Engagement for their fall 2022 Service-Learning Fellows Program. This program fosters the development and institutionalization of service-learning courses and curricula, projects and scholarly pursuits at Purdue as well as strengthens collaborative efforts and outcomes in communities.
Throughout the fall semester, the fellows will work with service-learning staff and community partners to explore the nature of service-learning courses and partnerships at Purdue amid the ever-changing reality of the COVID-19 pandemic and systemic racial injustice. Together, participants will collaboratively develop the skills and tools needed to deliver effective, mutually beneficial service-learning courses. Each partnership receives up to $2,000 to fund their project.
