GER²I plans virtual 2021 summer programs for gifted and talented youth

Purdue University’s Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute, or GER²I, will host multiple 2021 virtual summer enrichment programs for gifted and talented youth in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade.

Children in pre-kindergarten through fourth grade can participate in the GER²I 2021 Virtual Super Summer Program on July 5 – 9, 2021 from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm daily. Cost for the one-week program is $220 per child. Multi-child and Purdue employee discounts are available. During the Super Summer program, students will enjoy challenging courses with other academically, creatively, and artistically talented youth. Half-day, interdisciplinary courses are geared at least two grade levels above each student’s current school grade, and will include challenging, hands-on activities around a central theme. Components from multiple disciplines will be included at every level, so each child will gain experience in topics such as engineering, math, science, social studies, art, and language arts, while working on open-ended activities that require critical and creative thinking. GER²I will also host the 2021 Virtual Summer Residential Program for grades 5 – 12 from July 11 – July 24, 2021 in a virtual and synchronous format. Participants can register for either of the two half-day sessions offered daily, and cost for the two-week program is $500. Multi-child, Purdue employee, and refer-a-friend discounts are available. GER²I’s Virtual Summer Residential Program is designed for talented students who have demonstrated an ability to succeed academically or artistically and are motivated to tackle additional challenges. Sessions will include interactive activities in math, science, literature, filmmaking, theatre, engineering, physics, chemistry, art, and many more exciting areas. Students will also participate in daily social-emotional small group discussions with counselors. GER²I Summer Camps provide students appropriate intellectual challenges in small, challenging, fast-paced, and interactive classes. Students build friendships with those who share the same interests and love of learning in an enjoyable setting. 

One previous student attendee noted, “At GER²I camp, people do not judge others. Students at the GERI camp can actually understand the fact people are different cultures and respect and tolerate. At the GER²I camp, you can be yourself and feel that people will understand. It is nice to be around people who understand you.”

The Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute (GER²I) at Purdue University is an innovative center dedicated to the discovery, study, and development of human potential.
