Profile
Nguyen Huu Bao Le is a PhD student in the Department of Curriculum & Instruction (Literacy and Language Education) at Purdue University. His research interests lie at the intersection of Linguistic Landscape, Language Policy, and Heritage Language Education. Specifically, Nguyen plans to examine the linguistic homescapes of Vietnamese American families in the Midwest, exploring how students and families navigate heritage language maintenance in areas with limited language resources.
Prior to his doctoral studies, he taught courses in English, college study skills, and critical thinking. Currently, he is a Bilsland Fellow placed at the Asian American and Asian Resource and Cultural Center (AAARCC). He is also an active member of the academic community, serving on the doctoral student board for the Journal of Southeast Asian American Education & Advancement and holding leadership roles in AAAGraSA and GSEC. Outside of academia, he enjoys karaoke, playing guitar, and learning new languages.
