Profile

Mahreen Mamoon is a transnational educator, researcher, and curriculum specialist whose work sits at the intersection of critical pedagogy, feminist inquiry, and global education reform. With over 15 years of experience across the U.S., U.K., and South Asia, she brings a unique lens to higher education leadership, curriculum development, and social justice-oriented teaching. Currently a Ph.D. candidate in Curriculum Studies at Purdue University, her research explores separated motherhood in academia through autoethnographic and intersectional feminist frameworks. Mahreen has served in various leadership and faculty roles, including Assistant Dean at BRAC University, Graduate Instructor at Purdue, and curriculum consultant for non-profit initiatives targeting underserved communities. Research & Publications

Mahreen Mamoon’s primary research centers on feminist and decolonial approaches to curriculum, public pedagogy, and maternal scholarship in academia. Her current work explores separated motherhood—the emotional and institutional complexities faced by mothers, particularly women of color, who pursue higher education while geographically distanced from their children. Drawing from autoethnography, narrative inquiry, and intersectional feminist theory, her research interrogates how dominant ideologies of motherhood are reproduced and resisted within academic spaces. In addition, Mahreen’s interests extend to multicultural education, qualitative research methodologies, and critical curriculum design. She is deeply invested in exploring how educational systems can foster inclusive, transformative learning through culturally responsive and socially engaged pedagogies.
