Shaping the Future of Learning with Extended Reality (XR)
Our purpose is to encourage, promote, and support research on emerging technologies for the design and development of teaching and learning. The general focus of this group is learning about and using Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (AR), and VR/AR w/ Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance instruction and learning.

Extended Reality Workshops
Sept 29, Nov 3, & Dec 1
A three-part series of workshops designed to provide PWL instructors and staff with hands-on experiences in Extended Reality Technologies, including virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and VR/AR with AI for enhancing instruction and learning. The sessions build on one another and are interactive, with participants provided time to learn and interact with the tools and speakers, with the intention to use the tools in their instructional practice.
Session 1
Introduction to X-Tended Reality for Enhancing Teaching and Learning
This workshop introduces XR technologies and their use for teaching and learning. Which XR technologies are out there? What are the differences? How are they used in formal education? Get a broad overview including easy out of box solutions.
Session 2
Hands-On Exploration
Explore many of the XR tools discussed throughout the workshops during this session. Interact with both XR hardware and software. Get hands-on VR glasses, Merge Cube, and XR Apps for iPads.
Session 3
XR Showcase
During this exciting, jampacked speaker session, hear from instructors at Purdue and other universities using XR technologies for teaching. Discover how faculty are integrating these technologies in their classes with presentations and demonstrations.
