Teacher Education Program Requirements and Milestones
Newly admitted Teacher Education students are, upon first enrollment, assigned to a dedicated, multi-year Teacher Education Program Requirements and Milestones course (via Brightspace) defined by Catalog Year (Cohort) and Major.
This course specifies Teacher Education Program and licensure expectations, timelines, and milestone decision points. Milestone outcomes are defined and results are linked to Plans of Study. Resources, interventions, and supports are provided to ensure continuous progress, milestone attainment, program completion, and licensure.
Undergraduate Licensure Programs
In addition to earning your bachelor’s degree, graduates who want to teach in Indiana must also be licensed. Specific Teacher Education Program Requirements and Milestones are determined by students’ catalog year and major. The College of Education’s Office of Teacher Education and Licensure (OTEL) exists to help you navigate this process.
Learner Specialty Concentrations
As a part of your required teacher education coursework, you will take one or two courses that introduce you to working with students with gifts and talents, English learners, students with disabilities, and using positive behavior interventions. Beyond these introductory courses, you will also choose one Learner Specialty Concentration for a deeper exploration and preparation.
Blended and Online Teaching
The Technology Integration and Blended and Online Teaching (Ti-BOT) program is an integral component of the innovative new curriculum that offers a pathway for students to earn the Blended and Online Teaching License alongside their initial instructional licenses upon program completion.
