Marcia Gentry is the executive director of the Gifted Education Research and Resource Institute at Purdue University. She also advises New York Edge, which developed the Excellence Project to bring gifted programming to underrepresented gifted and talented students students in New York City.

The proposed civics education standards for middle school students were discussed during a public meeting Tuesday of the commission that authored the guidelines. Beginning in 2023, middle school students will be required to take one semester of civics before starting high school.
