The American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) Holmes Program named four College of Education PhD students as 2026 Holmes Scholars.

The program supports students who self-identify as racially and ethnically diverse and are pursuing graduate degrees in education at AACTE member institutions. In February 2026, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE) selected Purdue University as the recipient of the 2026 Outstanding Holmes Program Award.

The College of Education 2026 Holmes Scholars are:

Mopinre hopes to gain the knowledge and experience that will help her secure  a tenure‑track assistant professor position in special education at an R1 institution in the U.S., to participate in conferences where she can share her work and continue building meaningful professional connections, and to serve as both a mentor and a meaningful representation for students who come from underrepresented backgrounds.
