Reed promoted to assistant dean
Amber Reed, Director of the Office of Strategic Assessment and Accreditation since July 2022, was promoted to the Assistant Dean of Strategic Assessment and Accreditation by the College of Education, effective November 1, 2025.
“Over the course of the last three-plus years Dr. Reed has contributed in important and innumerable ways to our success,” said Phillip J. VanFossen, interim dean of the College. “While implementing a ‘culture of assessment,’ she has also taken on a number of additional initiatives that were not in her portfolio under the position of director.”
VanFossen listed some examples of Reed’s additional accomplishments: developing and implementing reliable and valid reporting assessments, implementing syllabus coding procedures, adopting and coordinating multiple data platforms and external assessments, and growing her office staff from one to three members to increase the office’s capabilities and better serve the College.
“Because her current position has clearly exceeded the scope of the director position she was hired for, it became apparent that we needed to create a new position/title that more accurately reflected the job she is currently doing,” VanFossen said.
“It is an honor to work with the faculty, staff, and administration in the College of Education and its partner colleges,” said Reed. “It is beautiful to see their dedication to providing high quality education and meaningful experiences that impact the learning and lives of P-12 students, families, and communities, be that through teacher education, counseling psychology, or applied behavior analysis programs.”
