Purdue College of Education’s Times Higher Ed WUR Rankings in Top 50 worldwide
The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings provide the definitive list of the world’s best universities, with an emphasis on the research mission. In 2025, THE ranked Purdue University’s subject area of Education Studies as #47 in the world—up from #51 in 2024. The College of Education is the unit primarily responsible for this subject area.
THE rated the Purdue’s College of Education #20 in the U.S. for earning an education degree. [“Leading universities in Teacher Training and Academic Studies“, up from #22 in 2024) and 14th Best Public University (up from #16 in 2024).
THE is the only global university ranking to judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions: teaching (the learning environment); research environment (volume, income and reputation); research quality (the outputs of research); industry (knowledge transfer) and international outlook (staff, students and research). It uses 18 carefully calibrated performance indicators to provide the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons. The overall list is accompanied by 11 subject-specific rankings.

Education’s ranking of #47 was the second highest of all ranked subject areas at Purdue (behind only the Engineering at #30).
Besides ranking 20th among U.S. institutions and 14th among public universities with Colleges of Education, Purdue’s Education Studies subject area was the highest ranked in Indiana (Indiana University ranked #49).
