The U.S. Department of Education has awarded the Purdue University College of Education’s Indiana GEAR UP (INGU) program $34.9 million over seven years to continue its efforts to support Indiana students and educators.

This isn’t a new school year for just the students. Tippecanoe School Corporation’s “Miss G.,” Purdue alumna Ellie Grostefon (Elementary Education ’24), has dreamed of becoming a teacher since she was five – and her dream came true.

The Purdue University College of Education welcomes new colleagues this fall: nine faculty members, one lecturer, and two post-doctoral researchers.

Purdue University is calling all Boilermaker fans to join in celebrating those who play a vital role in shaping our future generations — our community educators. The Golden Hammer Educator Appreciation football game will take place Saturday, Aug. 31, which is Purdue’s season opener against Indiana State University.

Signe Kastberg has been named as the Benjamin Meaker Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Bristol, U.K. She will collaborate with Tracy Helliwell to research how mathematics teacher educators design and implement instructional activities and practices.

Jennifer Smith is a founding co-director, along with colleague Jasmine Begeske of the newly approved Center for Research and Equipment for Assistive Technology in Education (CREATE).
