Profile

Sariya Shabnam is a Ph.D. student in Special Education at Purdue University. Her research focuses on multilingual learners with disabilities, with particular attention to how instructional practices and educational systems support literacy development and equitable learning opportunities. She is broadly interested in integrating quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods approaches to examine both academic outcomes and students’ educational experiences.

Sariya has prior teaching experience in Bangladesh, Poland, and Spain, where she worked with diverse student populations across inclusive and multilingual settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Smart Educational Technology from Université Côte d’Azur, France, and a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Her work is guided by linguistically responsive and inclusive practices and aims to contribute to research and policy that improve educational access and outcomes for students with disabilities.
