Dr. Deemer’s research focuses on academic and career development, with a particular emphasis on the motivational and social psychological factors that foster the pursuit of careers in STEM. Particular topics of focus within this area include the influence of gender and racial stereotypes on career motivation, STEM interest and identity development, career intentions, academic procrastination, and academic momentum. His research also examines how elements of academic contexts give rise to the adoption of certain motivational orientations and goals.
