Research & Publications
Dr. Hawkins' research explores inequities in higher education and how the intersection of race and gender impacts the legibility of Black women in postsecondary education. More specifically, her work examines the racialized and gendered experiences of Black undergraduate women, with particular attention to desirability and a sense of belonging, foregrounding Black feminist perspectives. She has presented research at the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the Assessment Institute, the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), and the National Women's Studies Association (NWSA).
