Canstruction®

Canstruction is a food drive and design project joined together to provide students the opportunity to engage in a design activity while giving back to the local community. Student teams will design a structure made of canned food. The cans must be collected by the students from parents or donors and used to build the structure. The team will be responsible for collecting cans, transporting them to the Tippecanoe Mall, and constructing their design.

  • TITLE and DESCRIPTION of the entry—Description should be no longer than one paragraph. Description cannot contain the name of the school as this description will be given to the jurors with no other identifying information so that all entries are judged anonymously. The description should describe the choices you made in cans and labels to articulate your theme, your use of double entendres with label names, play on words, themes, etc.
  • Names of the 5-person team participating in the competition build—designate one member to be the team captain.
  • Sketch of entry.

The proposal must be emailed to Drew Ayres in PDF or Word format at: dayres@purdue.edu

  • You may use fundraisers to obtain funds for the competition
  • Contact your mentors—they are here to help!
  • All teams must have a faculty advisor or parent chaperone on the day of the competition!
