Eminent researchers recognized at Purdue’s Excellence in Research celebration

Purdue University presented its three most prestigious research awards — the Herbert Newby McCoy Award, Arden L. Bement Jr. Award and Lu Ann Aday Award — on April 6 at the Excellence in Research event at Purdue Memorial Union.

Pictured (left to right) are Zhao-Qing Luo, Herbert Newby McCoy Award recipient and professor of biological sciences; Karen Plaut, executive vice president for research; Kristen Seward, clinical associate professor of educational studies; Jay Gore, recipient of the Arden L. Bement Jr. Award and the Reilly University Chair Professor of Mechanical Engineering; and Nielsen Pereira, associate professor of educational studies.

Luo and Gore presented lectures on their research at the event, and Seward and Pereira gave a lecture on behalf of the late Marcia Gentry, professor of educational studies, who was given the Lu Ann Aday Award posthumously.
